WRITING IN THE MAJOR:

For students declaring the major on or after 9/1/08, HISTORY 209S is the only WIM option. We will offer it all three quarters, but the course is now topic-based. Students must select the topic of their research paper within the general parameter specified for each quarter's offering.

HISTORY 209S. Research Seminar for Majors
Autumn: United States topics
Winter: European topics
Spring: History of Science topics

IMPORTANT NOTE: HISTORY 209S. Research Seminar for Majors fulfills WIM only. It does not fulfill a 200-level small group requirement, nor does it fulfill any field requirement. (These requirements must be fulfilled in the other 12 courses for the major.)

For students declaring on 9/1/08 and thereafter, you are welcome to enroll in any of the courses listed below that fulfill the "old" WIM requirement and count them towards the major. However, you are not eligible to receive WIM credit for any of these courses - no exceptions will be made.

For students who declared the history major before 9/1/08, the following 2009-10 courses will fulfill the WIM requirement (provided you do the required paper revision(s) under the instructor's supervision). You can also fulfill WIM with a 209S (as above) or with:
